How do I send money from my bank to Vanguard?

To speak with a Vanguard representative: Call 877-662-7447 and say "Transfer Question" when prompted.

Step 1

To complete this process, you need to have a bank account linked to your Vanguard account. You can learn how to link a new bank account here.

First, navigate to Buy & Sell under the main navigation My Accounts tab.

Step 2

Select Buy Vanguard funds in the Vanguard mutual funds section.

Step 3

Next, on the Buy Vanguard funds page, select the account you want to add funds to in the Where’s the money going? section.

Step 4

If you’re adding money to an existing fund, check the box next to the fund.

If you are buying a new fund, check the box next to Add another Vanguard mutual fund. Then type in the fund name, symbol, or number. If you aren’t sure which fund, you can view a list of Vanguard mutual funds by clicking the Select from a list of our funds link.

Note: If you’re buying a brokerage product like a stock or ETF, you’ll need to move money into your settlement fund to cover the trade.

Step 5

Enter the dollar amount you would like to add and select CONTINUE.

Step 6

In the Where’s the money coming from? section, confirm that the bank account you’ve selected is correct. Change your selection if necessary.

Click CONTINUE to review the Consent to electronic delivery of fund prospectus.

Select Accept to proceed to the Review and submit page and complete your transaction.

Step 7

On the Review and submit page, review the details of your transaction. When you’re ready to proceed with your purchase, click SUBMIT. You’ll be taken to a Confirmation screen that will show the details of your transaction.
