How do I send a wire from Vanguard to my bank?

Follow this step-by-step tutorial to learn how to send a wire from Vanguard account to your bank account

Step 1

First, navigate to Buy & Sell under the main navigation My Accounts tab.

The money you are wiring must come from a Vanguard mutual fund or your settlement fund. When you sell brokerage products the proceeds from that sale automatically go to your settlement fund.

Step 2

Step 3

Next, on the Sell Vanguard funds page, select the account you want to sell from in the Where’s the money coming from? section.

Step 4

Check the box next to the account you want to sell from and enter the amount you’d like to sell. You can enter a dollar, percentage, or share amount or select Sell all shares. ClickCONTINUE.

In order to wire money, an amount of $1,000.00 or greater must be entered for each holding you're redeeming.

Step 5

In the Where’s the money going? section, confirm that the bank account you’ve selected is correct. Change your selection if necessary.

In the Select a method section, choose Wire and then click CONTINUE.

Note: Vanguard Brokerage charges a $10 wire fee for each holding you are redeeming from. (The fee is this fee is waived for clients who hold at least $1 million in qualifying Vanguard assets.)

*Check with your bank to determine if it charges a fee to receive wire transactions.

Step 6

If you’re selling from an IRA, you’ll need to make a tax withholding choice. You can choose your federal holding amount in percentages, dollars, state minimums, or a combination. You can also choose to print a copy of this choice, have a copy emailed, or sent through U.S. Mail. Once you’ve made your selection, click the CONTINUE button.

Step 7

On the Review and submit page, review the details of your transaction. When you’re ready to proceed, click SUBMIT. You’ll be taken to a Confirmation screen that will show the details of your transaction.
